In the late 1950's and early 60's blaring neon signs strategically placed atop skyscrapers face Lake Michigan as two trains prepare to depart Illinois Central's Lakefront Station.
The lights in each building, stars in the sky, running lights and headlights on the locomotives, as well as the neon billboards atop the the skyscrapers light up when placed under a black light.

A Southern Pacific freight train leans as it pulls out of a reverse curve at the base of Mt. Shasta,California. In this train's consists are refrigerated box cars loaded with lettuce, grapes, and oranges for markets along the eastern seaboard of the United States.
The AC-4 class had a rather unusual appearance because their crew cabs were placed above and in front of the boilers. They were also some of the largest steam locomotives in the world with a 4-8-8-2 wheel arrangement.

Warmed by the rays of the sun, a North American Bald Eagle emerges through the clouds and descends upon the Bright Angel Trail along the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Surrounding the opening are faces of members of the Navajo Nation and buffalo.

The Cathedral Mountains are under the Aurora Borealis. In the distance Half Dome highlights the grandeur and majesty of nature as wolves were recently placed back into the park.

The El Capitan charges east across the New Mexico Desert in the late 1950's. A 1955 Chevy races the train on parallel U.S. Route 66.
The El Capitan was a bi-level passenger train that usually followed on the heels of the Super Chief all the way from Chicago to Los Angeles.
